Muammer Hakan Cengiz is the Turkish Consul General in Deventer.
He was born in Ankara in 1979. He studied at “Sırrı Yırcalı Anatolian High School” and the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University. He obtained his BS in Business Administration in 2002.
He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2003. He worked at the Department for Bilateral Affairs with Europe until 2004, then he was transferred to the Department for Energy, Water and Environment at the beginning of 2005.
He was posted to the Turkish Embassy in Ashgabat as Third Secretary between 2007-2009. He moved to the Turkish Embassy in The Hague as Second Secretary in 2009 (then Counsellor in 2012). He took part in the organization of the celebrations of the 400th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Türkiye and The Netherlands. He returned to Ankara at the beginning of 2013 as the Head of Energy Section at the Foreign Ministry.
In 2014, he was appointed as the Counsellor of the Turkish Embassy in Ottawa. He was transferred to the Turkish Embassy in Tirana as the Counsellor/Deputy Head of Mission in 2018. He then returned to Ankara in 2020 as the Head of Energy Department at the Foreign Ministry.
He assumed his duties as the Turkish Consul General in Deventer on 1 January 2023.
Consul General Cengiz is married with 2 children.
